AR500 A2 Body Armor Plate is a Level III+ rated plate designed to defeat all pistols and most rifle ammunitions including 5.56×45 M193, 5.56×45 M855/SS109 at 3,000 FPS as well as AK-47 rounds (7.62×39) and .308 (7.62×51 M80 NATO Ball) at 2,850 FPS. The custom steel alloy blend protects against several hits without shattering or breaking with the same coverage on the edges as the center giving a true edge-to-edge coverage. This plate features a FragLock Coating that is available in both versions, Base Coat and Build-Up Coat. Although both versions protect the user by either capturing or deflecting fragmentation and spalling, the Build-Up coat offers a thicker seal. The FragLock coating protects the plate from corrosion due to the elements while also providing a shelf life of 20 years.
